Can I book Komodo National Park tickets myself? The sources disagree. IDN Times, citing the park's announcement, describes visitors reserving through the app or siora.id. The hotel and tours desk Casa de Capulet says only licensed operators can register visitors. The agent list on siora.id was empty on 3 November 2026, so test it for your own date.
This page sets that conflict out side by side, then gives you a test that answers it for your own date. Below is who says what and what the site itself shows.
What does the park's announcement describe?
IDN Times, working from the park authority's announcement on the quota, describes a visitor-side process. You download the app or open siora.id, make a reservation, and keep the digital ticket with its QR code to show at entry. That account has the visitor doing it directly.
Separately, RRI reports that buying at the site has ended and that bookings go through SiOra. So the choice is no longer between the gate and the app. Whatever route you end up with, somebody has to complete a SiOra reservation for you before you arrive.
A press summary is a reading of the announcement and does not replace it. It tells you how one newsroom understood the process when it wrote, and not what the reservation form accepts today.
Why do some sources say you cannot?
The clearest statement comes from Casa de Capulet, whose business includes a hotel and a tours desk. It says individuals cannot create SiOra bookings and that only licensed operators can register visitors, and it dates its check of the rules to August 2026. That is a direct claim, and it comes from a business with its own tours desk, so weigh it knowing that.
That does not make it wrong. Rules can narrow after launch, and a business that deals with bookings may see things a reporter does not. Equally, a business can describe its own channel as the only channel. Two more sources point the same way, with limits: Neptune Liveaboards speaks of liveaboard guests, saying licensed operators register them, and Komodo Guide, a travel site, says passengers cannot register directly.
There is some public evidence that agents have a substantial role. Antara reports a request from local tourism associations that the park stop agents tying up places, and the park's reply that it would take this to the app developer. That concern assumes agents can hold many bookings. It says nothing about whether a private visitor can make one.
What does the SiOra site show?
The siora.id menu shows four service links: Quota Information, SIMAKSI, Komodo Reservation and TA/TO Information. The presence of a reservation link and a separate travel agent and tour operator link suggests that the two functions are distinct, but a menu does not tell you who is allowed to finish a booking.
The travel agent list page does not help yet. On 3 November 2026 it showed no entries and the words Coming Soon. An empty list cuts both ways: it does not prove that agents are unnecessary, and it gives no way to confirm that any company claiming to be licensed is listed. See our SiOra guide for the wider system.
Can I book Komodo National Park tickets myself today?
The evidence so far, side by side:
| Source | Type | What it says |
|---|---|---|
| IDN Times | Press, citing the park's announcement | Visitors use the app or siora.id and reserve themselves |
| Casa de Capulet | Hotel with a tours desk | Individuals cannot; only licensed operators can register visitors (rules checked August 2026) |
| Neptune Liveaboards | Operator | Licensed operators register liveaboard guests; speaks only of liveaboards |
| Komodo Guide | Travel site, reviewed 31 May 2026 | Passengers cannot register themselves |
| siora.id | Official site | Lists a reservation link and a TA/TO link |
| siora.id agent list | Official site | No entries, Coming Soon (3 November 2026) |
The form itself decides what you can do on the day, so the practical answer comes from testing it.
How can you test it for your date?
This costs a little time and, done carefully, no money.
- Check your date on the public quota page first. If it shows no places, the question of who books it does not arise. Our quota page explains how to read it.
- Open siora.id or the app, and start the Komodo Reservation path as yourself.
- Note exactly where the process stops, if it does. A request for a licence number or agent login tells you something different from a payment failure.
- Read the SiOra payment methods page before you reach the payment step, since a blocked payment is a separate problem from a blocked booking.
- Before paying, confirm that the date is right. Tickets are stated to be non-refundable on the park's poster.
- If you are stuck, take a screenshot and ask the park's call centre. The number is on our contact page.
If it works, keep the QR code ticket and carry it with you. If it does not, note where it stopped and ask the park's call centre before deciding whether to use an operator.
What should you ask an operator?
If you book through a company, you still need these answers. The park's protocol puts a duty on agents, operators and guides to follow its rules and brief their guests, so it is reasonable to ask.
- Will you register me in SiOra, and in whose account does the booking sit?
- What details do you need? Operator Samara, for one, asks for a passport number along with each guest's full name, gender and nationality. Share these only with the company you have decided on.
- When will I receive my own e-ticket and QR code, and will it show my correct date?
- Is the ticket cost inside your price, or a separate line?
- Do you charge anything for registering me, and how much of what I pay is the state ticket?
On that last point, no park line covers an agent charge, because the published lines are state charges. Any handling charge is the company's own, so it should be shown as such. Our page on whether the fee is included in your tour shows how to read the lines. Once a company answers, test its figures: the Komodo National Park fee overview names each charge, the official entrance fee list gives the lines, the per-day count shows how many tickets a trip needs, foreign travellers have a page of their own, and the checking guide turns all of that into a worksheet.
What else do people ask about booking it themselves?
Can I book Komodo National Park tickets directly through SIORA?
Sources disagree. IDN Times describes visitors reserving for themselves through the app or site, while Casa de Capulet says only licensed operators can register visitors. Try the Komodo Reservation path on siora.id for your date and note where it stops.
Can I book a Komodo National Park ticket without a tour operator?
Possibly. Press coverage of the park's announcement suggests yes, and Casa de Capulet and the travel site Komodo Guide say no. An attempt in the app or a call to the park's call centre gives the answer for your date.
Do I need a licensed operator for SIORA?
Casa de Capulet says so, but it runs a tours desk itself, and IDN Times describes something else. The siora.id agent list showed no entries on 3 November 2026, so it cannot yet be used to check who is licensed.
Does the SiOra site list verified travel agents?
It has a page for this, but on 3 November 2026 the page showed no entries and the words Coming Soon. That was a snapshot, so look again before you rely on it.
Should I pay the Komodo National Park fee directly at the park?
No. RRI reports that on-site ticket sales ended and that bookings go through SiOra, so arrange your ticket before you travel, either yourself if the system allows it or through an operator.

How do I reach the desk?
You can ask a question on +62 811-3823-875 (WhatsApp) or by email. The desk cannot create a SiOra ticket for you. Because a request can lead to a paid trip, we have an interest in how you answer the question on this page, and you should keep that in mind. Anything we offer comes as a written offer naming the price and the company.
Send the desk your dates, nationality, and activities. The desk replies in writing.
