By Komodo National Park Fee Editorial Desk
Sourced figures: fees in the table carry their source and check month. They are official or third-party figures, not our offers, and they change. This guide is not the park authority.
There is no separate Padar Island entrance fee on the park authority's tariff poster. Visitors pay the Komodo National Park entrance ticket, charged per person per day by visitor type, and the climb runs in timed sessions. Operators report a ranger charge on top, shown in the price table on this page and labelled as an operator figure.
Is there a separate Padar Island entrance fee?
Not on the official list. The park authority's poster sets the entrance ticket by type of visitor and by day, and it has no line for Padar. The foreign and Indonesian rates in the price table are therefore the same ones you would pay for any other day in the park. Our Komodo National Park fee overview explains those rates.
One operator's per-island dollar list and bundled route prices conflict with the poster and with Indonesia's tourism ministry site; see the checking guide. A 2022 plan did single out Padar and Komodo for a far higher charge, but it never lasted; the page on the cancelled 2022 fee tells that story.
What do you actually pay to climb Padar?
Three kinds of cost can land on one Padar visit, and they have different owners:
| Item | Who sets or reports it | Unit | Status |
|---|---|---|---|
| Entrance ticket | Park tariff poster | Per person per day | Official |
| Ranger at Padar | Operators Ocean Earth Travels and Komodo Island Tour | Per group of up to 5 | Operator-reported only |
| Boat to the island | Whoever sells the trip | Set by the seller | Commercial, outside the ticket |
The poster's ticket covers trekking, according to the park head's statement to Antara, so the climb itself needs no activity ticket. According to Casa de Capulet, operators split fees both ways, inside the trip price or as a separate line, so ask which applies before comparing two quotes. Our page on fees inside tour prices has the questions.
Has the Padar fee gone up?
The state ticket has, though not as a Padar item. CNN Indonesia reports that foreign tourists paid a lower entrance ticket before 30 October 2024, with separate activity tickets such as trekking on top. That change applied across the park. A headline about a steep rise for Padar specifically may date from the cancelled 2022 plan, so check the year before you budget on it.
What are the Padar sessions?
RRI reports three visit sessions at Padar Selatan, all in WITA, central Indonesian time:
| Session | Time (WITA) |
|---|---|
| First | 05:00 to 08:00 |
| Second | 08:00 to 11:00 |
| Third | 15:00 to 18:00 |
The gap between 11:00 and 15:00 matters for day trips, because a boat arriving in the middle of the day falls outside every reported session. RRI reports the sessions; the protocol separately prohibits trekking outside timed entry. RRI also reports a maximum wait of 20 minutes at certain sites to avoid crowding, so ask your operator whether that affects your session.
How many people can visit per session?
Sources report the limit slightly differently. RRI says about 300 to 330 people per session, IDN Times says about 330, and operator Samara says no more than 300. Nothing settles the difference. All three figures are per session, and they are separate from the park-wide daily cap.
Bookings are limited by the park-wide daily quota and, at Padar Selatan, by the reported session limits. At those limits, Antara's annual capacity figure for Padar would last about 18 to 20 days, and no source explains the gap. The park-wide cap, the capacity list and how the quota ran out in 2026 belong to the page on the Komodo National Park quota.
What guide charge do operators report?
Ocean Earth Travels lists a ranger charge at Padar per group of up to five, and Komodo Island Tour lists the same figure. Komodo Resort adds that groups larger than five need an additional ranger, which doubles the charge. The price table shows the Padar figure with its operator label.
Keep the status of that number in mind. The park's own guide page covers Loh Buaya and Gili Lawa, so no official Padar guide tariff is available. On accompaniment, siora.id says people doing activities on top of Padar Selatan should be accompanied by rangers, naturalist guides or tour guides. The wider picture is on the naturalist guide fee page.
Who may not climb?
siora.id says people with heart, respiratory, asthma or other internal organ conditions are not allowed to trek to the top of Padar Selatan. It describes the climb as 815 stairs, taking 40 to 60 minutes. Paying for the ticket does not change that restriction, and the fee is non-refundable on the poster's wording, so anyone affected should settle this before reserving.
Drones are also limited: siora.id bars flying them without permission at Padar Selatan. The drone line on the tariff is a charge, and paying it does not replace permission.
Do Komodo and Padar on the same day cost two tickets?
The poster's unit is the person and the day, with no island line. Whether one day's ticket holds at a second gate is not stated in an official text cited here, as the per-day page explains, so confirm in SiOra or with the park. If a quote adds a second state ticket for the same date, ask which tariff line it comes from. A line simply labelled "Padar fee" gets the same question, because the poster has nothing by that name. The seller may have a fair answer, such as a ranger charge or its own service cost, and should be able to say which.
Can you buy a ticket at Padar?
Do not plan on it. Destination text on siora.id still says tickets can be bought at Padar Selatan at set hours, but RRI reports on-site purchase ended in April 2026. The later announcements are the ones to follow, and the old wording on the site should not be taken as an offer. Forestry Minister Regulation 17/2025 does list Padar Selatan among the park's entry points, but being an entry point is not the same as selling tickets.
Can Padar close after you have a ticket?
Sailing there can be stopped. AFU.id reports a port authority notice, 02/MP-VIII/2026, dated 7 August 2026, closing sailing toward Padar until 10 August. A ticket does not guarantee that a boat may sail on your date. The disputed refund position in that situation has its own page on refunds and closures.
What else do visitors ask about Padar fees?
Do I need a separate Padar Island ticket?
The park poster has no Padar line, so the state ticket is the ordinary Komodo National Park entrance ticket for that day. Operators may present island prices of their own, which is a different thing from a state fee.
Is a permit required to visit Padar Island?
A tourist needs the entrance ticket reserved through SiOra. The separate SIMAKSI permit is listed for purposes such as research, journalism, commercial filming and drones, and a tourist hike is not among them.
Is the Padar ticket included in a tour?
It depends on the seller, so ask for the entrance ticket and the ranger charge to be named in your quote.
What fees do I pay for Padar Island?
The entrance ticket per person per day, plus a ranger charge that operators report per group of up to five. Boat costs are separate. The price table on this page labels each figure by source.
What time can I climb Padar Island?
RRI reports three sessions at Padar Selatan: 05:00 to 08:00, 08:00 to 11:00 and 15:00 to 18:00 WITA. The park's protocol prohibits trekking outside timed entry.
Which published prices did we check?
Official tariffs and, where labelled, figures reported by named operators or the press, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and rules change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.

How do I reach the desk?
Padar questions go to the desk through WhatsApp 628113823875 or email. We can explain which fee lines apply to the route you have in mind, though we hold no sessions and cannot reserve a Padar slot in SiOra. If you later ask us for a trip, that can become a paid booking, so we are not a neutral party. A written offer is the only thing that commits anyone, and it names the price and the contracting company.
Send the desk your dates, nationality, and activities. The desk replies in writing.
