By Komodo National Park Fee Editorial Desk
Sourced figures: fees in the table carry their source and check month. They are official or third-party figures, not our offers, and they change. This guide is not the park authority.

The Komodo National Park boat fee is charged per vessel per day, separately from each passenger's entrance ticket. Speedboats and wooden boats pay by engine power in three bands, and cruise ships pay by passenger capacity in six. All the rates come from the park's tariff poster and appear in the price table on this page, with the penalty for entering without a ticket.
How is the Komodo National Park boat fee charged?
By the unit and by the day. The park authority's tariff poster treats a vessel as its own ticket holder, and every vessel line reads per unit per day. So the question "per person or per boat?" has a two-part answer: each visitor has a per-person ticket, and the boat has a per-unit ticket as well.
| Ticket | Unit | What changes the rate |
|---|---|---|
| Visitor entrance ticket | Per person per day | Foreign or Indonesian; day of the week for Indonesians |
| Speedboat or wooden boat | Per unit per day | Engine power in PK |
| Cruise ship | Per unit per day | Passenger capacity |
The vessel charge does not depend on how many people are aboard. Six guests and twenty guests on the same boat produce the same vessel line, though the person lines differ. For the visitor side, go to the entrance fee page. The Komodo National Park fee overview shows where vessel lines sit among the other charges.
What is the rate by engine power?
The poster sorts speedboats and wooden boats into three bands, with a rate for each shown in the price table on this page:
- 40 to 100 PK
- 101 to 500 PK
- Above 500 PK
PK is the engine power unit used on the poster. The band goes by the engine rating, not by the boat's length or its appearance, so a large wooden vessel with a modest engine could sit in a lower band than a small, fast speedboat. If you are checking a quote, the useful question is the rated power of the engine on your boat.
The lines also leave gaps. They start at 40 PK, so for a smaller engine you should ask the park authority instead of assuming a rate. And the poster's wording names speedboats, wooden boats and cruise ships. If you own a yacht, you will not find that word on these lines, so confirm which line the authority applies.
How are cruise ships charged?
By capacity, in six bands, from up to 50 passengers through to above 3,000:
- Up to 50
- 51 to 100
- 101 to 200
- 201 to 1,000
- 1,001 to 3,000
- Above 3,000
The line refers to capacity, so a part-empty ship reads the same as a full one. The poster does not use the word liveaboard, so a small one might be read as a wooden boat by engine power or as a cruise ship by capacity. The operator should know which line it pays under, and you can ask.
Cruise and liveaboard regulation is a live topic. During the quota trial, the park authority suggested to Antara that cruise ship quota be separated from regular tourism allocations. Separately, UNESCO's World Heritage Committee decision 47 COM 7B.6, at paragraph 10, urges stronger marine management, including regulation of liveaboards and cruise ships and revenue generation. Neither is a tariff change, but both mean this part of the table deserves a fresh look before a season's budget is fixed.
Did boat tariffs change in 2024?
According to the park head, no. The head told Antara that boat tariffs did not rise in the 2024 change, the one that took effect on 30 October 2024 and raised visitor tickets. Our page on Government Regulation 36/2024 explains the wider instrument.
So an older vessel figure on a blog may not be as stale as an old visitor figure from the same page, but compare it with the current poster before relying on it. A statement that a tariff stayed the same is one official's summary at one moment, and the poster is the thing to read.
What happens to a boat without a ticket?
The park head told CNN Indonesia that visitors, including boats, who enter without a ticket face an administrative sanction, up to a fine of five times the normal tariff. The tariff table annexed to the regulation, in a copy hosted at bksdadki.com, is the source of the penalty row in the price table on this page, and it reads five times the normal ticket per person or unit per day.
The press wording says "up to" and the table row states the multiple directly, so the two are not phrased identically. Both apply to people as well as vessels. How the penalty is shared between an operator and its passengers is left open by both. If you are chartering, ask for the vessel's ticket or registration details in the same way you would ask for your own e-ticket.
Can a regional tax also reach a tourist boat?
As reported, yes. RRI reports a West Manggarai regent letter dated 29 June 2026 making settled regional taxes and levies a condition of sailing approval for tourist boats, based on a 2023 regional regulation. Neptune Liveaboards describes a regional boat tax of 10 per cent on accommodation and food served on board, treated as an operator cost. No source cited here links the two, and neither is a park ticket or a line on the poster. If a quote lists a per-guest tax line, ask which rule it rests on.
Who usually pays the vessel ticket on a trip?
The poster charges the unit and stops there. It does not say how a company should recover that cost from guests, so the vessel charge may be absorbed into a trip price, listed as a line, or divided up among passengers. All of these can be perfectly ordinary.
What you can test is the arithmetic. A "boat fee" per guest that is much higher than the vessel line divided among the people aboard is not simply the park's ticket, and it is reasonable to ask what else it contains. Remember the rate is per day. How the days of a multi-day trip are counted is covered at Komodo fee per day, and is the fee included in your tour? lists the lines a good quote should show.
This page does not recommend any boat or charter.
What else do people ask about vessel tickets?
Is the boat fee included in the Komodo National Park ticket?
No. The visitor's ticket and the vessel's ticket are separate lines on the park's poster. The tourism ministry site also says the tariff does not cover boats, meaning your boat transport is a separate cost as well.
Can boats enter Komodo without a ticket?
They are not meant to. The park head told CNN Indonesia that boats entering without a ticket face an administrative sanction of up to five times the normal tariff.
How much is the Komodo National Park boat permit?
The poster calls it an entrance ticket for watercraft, charged per unit per day. The rate depends on engine power or, for cruise ships, passenger capacity. Every band is shown in the price table on this page.
Is the Komodo National Park fee charged per person or per boat?
Both, on different lines. Each visitor has a per-person ticket and the vessel has a per-unit ticket, each charged per day.
Are Komodo National Park entrance fees included in overnight boat tours?
According to Casa de Capulet, operators split fees both ways, inside the trip price or as a separate line, and the park's tariff does not decide that. Ask for the visitor tickets and the vessel ticket to be named on your quote, with the number of days each one covers.
Which published prices did we check?
Official tariffs and, where labelled, figures reported by named operators or the press, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and rules change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.
