Sourced figures: fees in the table carry their source and check month. They are official or third-party figures, not our offers, and they change. This guide is not the park authority.

The Komodo National Park conservation fee does not appear on the park authority's tariff poster. Operators Komodo Resort and Phinisi Trip still describe one. West Manggarai's former regional charge stopped in May 2023, and the large fee announced in 2022 was cancelled. If a quote lists a conservation line, ask who collects it and under which rule.

Is a Komodo National Park conservation fee on the official list?

No. The tariff poster from the park authority has no conservation fee line. It has the entrance ticket and activity tickets such as diving, fishing and filming. Our Komodo National Park fee overview explains how those lines fit together. The foreign entrance line is in the price table on this page, beside the other lines this page discusses, so you can compare them directly.

An absent line is an observation about the poster, and it should be read as exactly that. It shows the park's published list does not support the charge. It does not tell you how any particular seller arrived at a line in its quote. Three charges are easy to confuse here, and the entrance ticket sits beside them in this table as the comparison.

The entrance ticket's own coverage is set out on the page on what a tour includes, so the activities listed there are not a reason for a further charge.

Who still mentions one?

Komodo Resort, an operator, describes a separate conservation fee with one figure for foreign visitors and another for Indonesian visitors. Both appear in the price table, labelled as its claim. As shown there, the line has no per-day unit, so if you meet this charge, ask whether it applies once or for each day.

Phinisi Trip, another operator, also mentions a conservation fee on its fee page, at the same figure Komodo Resort gives for foreign visitors. That page gives other figures for the same ticket in the same article, along with dollar tickets per island and bundled route prices that conflict with the poster and the tourism ministry. Attributing the claim to the page is as far as we can take it.

Neither operator's description makes the line official, and neither page proves that anyone is being misled.

Talk of a "new" or "2026" conservation fee, or of an increase, leads back to the same place. As of the November 2026 check, the poster has no such line, new or old. There is no 2027 announcement to cite, and we will not guess at one.

What was the regional charge?

This one was real, and it ended. According to Detik, West Manggarai regency collected its own regional charge at Loh Liang on Komodo Island until May 2023, with separate foreign and Indonesian amounts, on top of the park's state ticket.

An audit board recommendation, passed on through the ministry and the park authority, ended it: the West Manggarai regent said on that basis that regional charges inside the park would stop from 24 May 2023. If someone asks you for a regional charge inside the park today, ask which current rule supports it.

The price table allows one comparison you can make yourself. The foreign figure in Komodo Resort's conservation line matches the foreign figure of the former regional charge. The Indonesian figures do not match. We note that as an observation only.

How does it relate to the 2022 plan?

It is a separate matter, and a much larger one. The fee Kompas reported for Komodo and Padar in 2022 was an annual charge per person, with a four-person version, and the same report discusses the conservation reasoning offered for it.

It does not. According to Valid News, the tourism minister said on 15 December 2022 that the plan had been withdrawn and cancelled, before 1 January 2023, and that the park tariff stayed under PP 12/2014. The price table includes the figure only so that you can recognise it, and it is labelled as cancelled. A page that presents it as a current price is out of date. Our note on the cancelled 2022 Komodo fee has the full sequence.

Does the ticket money go to conservation?

The official texts describe the ticket as non-tax state revenue under Government Regulation 36/2024, and none cited here sets out how that money is split or spent. Travel pages sound more certain. Komodo Guide prints a percentage split that it credits to ministry budget reports, without linking a report. An older page on the park's legacy website, last updated in 2015, said for its time that park revenues were not fed back to park management. UNESCO's World Heritage Committee has since urged stronger marine management and revenue generation. Read any split you see as that site's claim until a budget document is in front of you.

What should you ask if a quote lists one?

Ask politely and specifically. A line in a quote may simply be the way one seller presents its costs, as our page on fees inside tour prices shows. These questions should clear it up:

  1. Which body collects this line, and under which regulation?
  2. Is it charged once, per day or per person?
  3. Will I receive a receipt or ticket from that body?
  4. Is it a government charge or part of your own service price?
  5. If I take it off the quote, what changes?

A clear answer that it is the seller's own contribution or service charge is a fair thing to weigh, as long as it is not presented as a state ticket. A vague answer calls for a second opinion from the park authority, whose contact details and method are set out in our guide on how to check the Komodo National Park fee.

If you hold a KITAS, the same applies: the poster separates foreign and Indonesian tourists only, with no line for residents, for a conservation charge or for the entrance ticket. Ask the park authority and keep the answer. Do not rely on a resident rate given without a source.

To see what is actually charged at a given site, our page on the Komodo Island entrance fee takes the question from the island's side.

What else do people ask about a conservation fee?

How much is the Komodo National Park conservation fee?

The park's poster lists no such fee, so there is no official amount. Komodo Resort describes one, and its figures appear in the price table on this page as an operator claim.

Is there a Komodo conservation fee?

Not on the park authority's poster. Two operators mention one, a regional charge ended in May 2023, and the 2022 fee was cancelled. Ask any seller who lists one to name the body that collects it.

Do I need to pay a separate conservation fee for Komodo National Park?

The official list does not show one. If a quote includes it, ask which body collects it and whether you get a receipt from that body, then ask the park authority if the answer is unclear.

Is there still a large conservation fee for visiting Komodo National Park?

No. The large annual fee announced in 2022 was withdrawn. Valid News reports the tourism minister saying so on 15 December 2022, before 1 January 2023.

Does a KITAS holder pay a different conservation fee?

No official line for residents or KITAS holders is on the poster, which separates only foreign and Indonesian tourists. Ask the park authority directly and keep the answer in writing.

Which published prices did we check?

Official tariffs and, where labelled, figures reported by named operators or the press, each with its source and the month we checked it. These are not our prices or offers. Fees and rules change, and sources sometimes disagree, so check the source before you rely on a figure.
